Cooking Light Finalist Lindsay Weiss Poised for Another Big Win

Overland Park woman a finalist in cooking contest
Lindsay Weiss of Overland Park has been chosen one of 12 finalists in Cooking Light magazine’s fourth annual Cooking Light Ultimate Reader Recipe Contest.

The finalists will be brought to Cooking Light headquarters in Birmingham, Ala., where they will compete on Sept. 18 for a $20,000 grand prize in a cook-off.

Weiss was selected for her Roasted Banana Bars with Browned Butter Pecan Frosting in the Desserts category.

Cooking Light Test Kitchen professionals and food editors selected the finalists. Recipes had to be lower in fat and calories than traditional recipes.

A panel of independent food professionals will sample each dish and select the winners in the cook-off. Each category winner will take home $5,000, and the overall grand prize winner will receive $20,000 plus $5,000 donated to the contestant’s charity of choice.

Last year, Weiss won the grand prize — $100,000 — in the Southern Living Cook-Off. Her winning entry then was Roasted Banana Ice Cream with Warm Peanut Butter Sauce. Weiss is also a contributor to the Neighborhood News.
